Korean Pop (K-Pop) has a robust fan base in Nagaland and is certainly here to stay. A case in point? Barely six-month after ‘MONT’ took centre stage on December 4 in their pre-debut concert at the Hornbill International Music Festival, another K-Pop act is set to perform in Dimapur and Kohima.
The “Summer Star Tour,” a fan meet-cum-mini concerts of Jang Hanbyul, a Korean singer and a member of the k-pop band LED Apple are scheduled at IMC Hall, Dimapur and at the Heritage, Kohima on June 20 and 23 respectively.
Hanbyul is also a television personality known for his appearances in The Code, Secret Room and cameos in several Korean dramas such as, To the Beautiful You, Reckless Family, Short Family etc.
Musik-A Events in association with Pink box and KACC is organising the ‘fan meet-cum-mini concert.’
Addressing a press conference held at Hiyo Cafe, Dimapur on June 10, the founder of Musik-A Events, Alobo Naga and the organising team stated that the popularity of K-pop is currently at its highest peak and fans are ready for another act again.
‘The team organised this event with the belief that the people are yet again ready for another successful event like the Mont concert that was held in December 2018 where about 8,000 people turned up,” the organisers noted.
This is Hanbyul’s first-ever concert in India and he has shown his keen interest in India before and is very excited about the event and currently learning Hindi, they informed.
“The team is confident that Jang will have a good time.”
However, they noted that it is a ‘challenge to bring their idols to the country’ as several logistics are involved. Alobo, thus, encouraged the K-Pop fans to take this as an opportunity and make the best use of it.
The team also informed that the winners of the ongoing online k-pop contest will get the opportunity to perform and open the act during the fan meet cum mini concert.
‘Youngsters from all around the Northeast has been enquiring and participating,’ Alobo said.
After Dimapur, Hanbyul will be performing at Joysingdoloi Auditorium Hall Diphu on June 21 and in Kohima on June 23.
