Japfüphiki Thenuko BLF commemorates 2nd Foundation Day

KOHIMA, AUGUST 11 (MExN): The Japfüphiki Thenuko Block Level Federation (JTBLF) with 17 Village Level Organizations (VLO) and 224 Self Help Groups (SHG) under it celebrated its 2nd Foundation Day at Jakha Town Hall, Jakhama.  

The JTBLF promoted by the Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission (NSRLM) was formed on August 10, 2016 and is one of the first federations to be formed under the Mission, a press release from Khriezovonuo Lhoungu, State Program Manager, NSRLM said.  

Menuoneituo Chadi, Chief Operating Officer, Skills and Youth Intervention, NSRLM who was the resource person stated that Jakhama being a resource block in Kohima district for implementation of NSRLM programme needs to show the way to others to emulate the benefits since most pilot interventions are being done here. He urged the community to avail various programme and schemes under NSRLM, the release mentioned.  

He pointed that the Start-up Village Entrepreneurship Program (SVEP) was for the benefit of the youth in villages and the MKSP to improve the status of women in agriculture and enhance opportunities available. He also apprised that DDU-GKY, a skilling program for the youth is also being implemented for which, ample training would be provided to the community service providers and implementing agencies to take these programs forward.  

Chadi further spoke about innovation in the field of branding and promotion of SHG products. He said that this will greatly “improve market opportunities in the coming years.”  

He stated that other ministries under the Government of India are coming forward to work with NSRLM SHGs. He, therefore, called upon the community institutions at the block level to strengthen further through continued cooperation and coordination.  

The release also informed that the program was chaired by Khrieno Khora, Joint Secretary, JTBLF. Hovisale Khatso, President JTBLF delivered the welcome and keynote address. Secretary and treasurer reports were submitted by Rokono Kisotso and Nochenu Thaprü. Chart presentations were given by Pete, VLO, Kezoma and Vimeyie, VLO, Jakhama. A special song was presented by Phesama VLO. Vitsituo Mepfhüo, Block Program Manager, NSRLM, Jakhama also delivered a short speech.
