JCC tells Cabinet subcommittee to convene joint meeting

DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 30 (MExN): The Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) has censured the Nagaland State Government for failing to meet their demands on issues related to the 33 percent women reservation issue. A press release from JCC on Saturday lamented that no headway and action has been initiated since the constitution of the Nagaland Municipal Act Review Committee on August 21, 2017 for amendment of the Nagaland Municipal Act 2001 and pass an appropriate bill for the larger interest of the Nagas. It also said the two month time frame given to the Judicial Inquiry Commission to submit report on the January 31 incidents has expired while the timeframe given to the Nagaland Government to revoke the resolution of November 24 2016 in connection to the Municipal Act has also expired. It has therefore appealed the Cabinet Sub Committee to convene a joint meeting with the JCC/NTAC at the earliest so as not to create any misunderstanding. With no concrete steps taken so far, the JCC said the public is confused over the intention of the government for the “delaying game.”
