JD (U) to focus on building party in Nagaland

Team of senior party leaders to visit Nagaland in Jan 2018

DIMAPUR, DECEMBER 14 (MExN): A three member team of senior party leaders from the Janata Dal (United) (JDU) will be visiting Nagaland in mid January, 2018 to “explore possibilities to building the party in Nagaland.” A press note from the JD (U) informed that the team will be led by KC Tyagi, Secretary General.

The JD (U), it reminded, has been a part of the Democratic Alliance of Nagaland (DAN) since its inception. However, it acknowledged that “in the past few years our party’s Nagaland unit has been defunct.”

“Ever since Nitish Kumar become President of Janata Dal (United), a cross section of people from various walks of life including Trade Unions, Farmers Organizations, Women Groups, including Civil Society, NGOs and minority organizations belonging to tribal people from the North East have been inviting our President, Nitish Kumar to the North Eastern states specially Nagaland,” it claimed. It revealed that leaders of the DAN alliance parties have also been inviting the JD (U) President.

“In the past Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narain and George Fernandes had been taking care to see that the people of North Eastern states are not alienated from the main stream and had been taking special interest in their affairs. It may be remember that because of the faith reposed on Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narain by the people of the North Eastern states, its leader signed a peace accord,” the party noted.

In view of these, it stated that the JD (U) has decided to “focus our attention on building the party in North Eastern states with special focus on Nagaland.”
