Dimapur, June 1 (MExN): Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) president, K Therie today congratulated the People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) candidate, Tokheho Yepthomi on getting elected as MP (Lok Sabha) and also thanked the people of Nagaland who voted for NPF candidate C Apok Jamir in the recently concluded Lok Sabha bye-election.
“The fight to protect the principles of secularism and liberal democracy had resonated throughout the state. He further appealed to the people of Nagaland “not to lose sight of our principles and beliefs and remain steadfast in our commitment to protect our rights and freedom as guaranteed by the constitution.”
With the success of Congress and united opposition parties in the recently concluded bye-elections across the country, the NPCC president opined, “the downfall of BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi has begun with the mood of the nation already yearning for change.”
He asserted that Congress and other secular minded parties in Nagaland will “continue to fight and defeat the evils of communalism manifested in the form of BJP and supported by NDPP.”
