KASA’s Golden Jubilee celebration underway

Dimapur, December 11 (MExN): The Golden Jubilee Celebration of the Kamaleah Area Sports Association (KASA) got underway at Lephori Village, Phek District on December 11 with Dr. Andrew Ahoto, Chairman of Livingstone Foundation Hr. Sec. School as the inaugural special guest.  

The four-day Golden Jubilee Celebration will culminate with the valedictory function on December 14 with Wetsope Krome, IPS, Inspector General of Police (ABn/NAP), Nagaland as the valedictory special guest.  

KASA is the oldest sports association in Phek District formedin 1968 with Asang Snock, one of the founding members as the Association’s first President, a press release informed.   It is one of the prominent sports bodies of the Pochury tribe covering six ranges, viz. Lephori, Akhen, Kanjang, Matikhrü, Reguri and Mollen.  

The inaugural began with the unveiling of the Golden Jubilee Monolith and unfurling of the KASA Flag by the special guest.  

In his address to the gathering, Dr Ahoto, who is also the President of All Nagaland Private Schools’ Association (ANPSA) Dimapur, called upon the people to shun all kinds of isms and work together for ushering in an era of unity and brotherhood through such events like sports.  

He highlighted the importance of sports events in bringing about peace and unity in the region and also called upon the younger generation to improve their skills rather than focusing only on bookish education. He also thanked the officials of KASA for making him an integral part of their Golden Jubilee Celebration.  

Prominent sports personalities from the Pochury Tribe, Head GBs, Village Council Chairmen and members, Church Officials and members along with youth and students leaders among other dignitaries were present during the programme.  

Maj. Arpit, OC of 22 Assam Rifles, Akhen Post who is also one of the patrons of KASA was also among the visiting dignitaries during the auspicious occasion.  

The opening session of the inaugural programme was heralded by the Jubilee Trumpet by MRSA. The programme was led by Pipirosh C.H., Women Coordinator of KASA as the leader while the invocation prayer was pronounced by Renousi Pojar, Pastor, Lephori Baptist Church.  

The welcome address was presented by the President of Lephori Youth Organisation (LYO), followed by the Presidential Address by Karo Trakha, President, KASA.  

A Jubilee Greeting by Krolhou Ritse, President, Phek District Sports Association (PDSA) was followed by Jubilee Voice by BYE, Lephori Baptist Church.

The programme came to a solemn close with the oath taking followed by the declaration of Golden Jubilee Celebrations open and lighting of the Jubilee Torch by the special guest.
