Kiphire DPDB suggest dissolving APMC members

The District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) of Kiphire has suggested to dissolve the present members of Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) in the district and constitute new members so farmers in the district can gain benefit. The suggestion was made during the monthly meeting of the Board on May 5.  

Coming out strongly on the non-functioning of the APMC, ADC Pungro Wennyei Konyak questioned where the truck and the Tata Mobile that were allotted to the district under APMC have gone. Suggesting that the DPDB write to the vigilance and investigation be done as to where crores of money sanctioned under APMC for the district has gone, he strongly recommended to dissolve and constitute new APMC members in the district.  

In this regard, District Agriculture Officer (DAO) Renbemo Ngullie clarified that the Agriculture Department has nothing to do with APMC as it is an autonomous body and also suggested to write to the higher authorities for the same.  

The ADC of Kiphire, Dr Tinojungshi Chang also apprised the members present that for construction of temporary administrative building of JNV Kiphire, which was burnt down on April 9, there will be a fund drive and contribution. He asked the members to take part in the same.  

Dr Tinojungshi, who chaired the meeting, also asked the head of departments in Kiphire to submit organizational set up activities and achievements of the department while submitting the formulated Local Area Development Program to the government. He further told the department heads to submit the revised departmental write up along with achievement made within the last two fiscal years to the office of the District Planning Officer on or before July 15.  

Meanwhile, Lankonsen Tsanglao, SDO (c) highlighted the activities of the monthly bazaar, which is an initiative of the DPDB. He informed that the bazaar will be held every last Friday of the month.  

L. Philip Patton, District Soil Conservation Officer, in his presentation highlighted the activities of the department. He also highlighted that the departmental quarters are in a pathetic condition and the issue has been relayed to the higher up. However, no action has been initiated making the district staffs suffer.
