Kiphire PRERAKs attend literacy prog

Hundreds of PRERAKs from different villages attended the one day literacy programme organized by the SLMA in collaboration with DLMA Kiphire at the Conference Hall of the EBRC with Benjamin Longkap SDO (C) as chief guest. Speaking at the programme, Benjamin said, PRERAKs is a Sanskrit word and when it is translated to English it is drivers of motivator and asked PRERAKs to be motivators of education which is the most needed in places like Kiphire.  

Speaking on the advantages in places like Kiphire Benjamin said, “the district have mixed community and in district like this we can learn many cultures and dialects as well which gives us an opportunity to know each other well.” He asked the participants to make it as an advantage and motivate the citizens through noble profession as PRERAKS.  

Sharing his experience Benjamin also said, “many people have wrong notion about Kiphire, where they felt it is very far, people are not co-operative and do not give importance in developmental activities but he maintained, this is one district where people are hard working and doing something for the district only thing needed is motivation and PREPRAKS are one among them.”  

He also asked the participants that without training we will fail to grow and only through it we learn and the society grow with our learning.  

Taking serious note of the PRERAKs the SDO (C) said, “My next assignment will be to verify whether PRERAKS in different villages are performing the duties and asserted that he will take necessary action if he found PRERAKs are not performing the duties from his end.”  

R. Ekonthong Lotha Nodal Officer, SLMA, Nagaland while giving key note address stress on the inception of the PRERAKS and the area coverage where four eastern Nagaland districts are under this program. He also dwelt on the objectives of the PRERAKS and added, “Of the total target of 114307 the state has achieved 98303 as per statistics.” He also assured to identify the best performing PRERAKS centre in the district so that felicitation program is held where certificate and cash will e awarded.
