Kire Chienuo issues clarification

Dimapur, May 2 (MExN): Kire Chienuo (clan) has issued a clarification regarding the issue between the Naga People’s Front (NPF) and Principal Secretary of Rural Development department vis-à-vis MNREGS fund allocation to Kuda village under Dimapur district.

A press release from Kire Chienuo, Kohima Village informed that the clan had a general meeting on April 28 and executive meeting on May 1 regarding the issue and decided to clarify certain allegation against the Principal Secretary.

It maintained that the Principal Secretary had never served any ultimatum to NPF party or TR Zeliang as alleged.

It also “confirmed” from the organizations that he had never lobbied or rallied support of social organizations for issuing press release in his favour, the release stated.

“It is the Kire clan who questioned the conduct of TR Zeliang in the light of instances of personalized allegation. Further, it demanded from TR Zeliang the reason behind personalized vendetta against our clan member within stipulated period in the last press statement,” it added.

With regard to TR Zeliang, Leader of Opposition’s statement published on April 30 where he had mentioned that he does not recollect any action taken against the present RD Principal Secretary “based on hatred or enmity some 20 years back,” the Kire Chienuo stated, “We do acknowledge human limitations. However, the former openly asking if any action or allegation initiated by him should be brought to light for clarification in public domain or individual level, is unacceptable to the Chienuo, since we have evidence of the instances and living witness.”

The Kire Chienuo further stated “it will not drag the matter on media tussle, rather as per the resolution the matter will be traditionally and customarily dealt with.”

The clan also maintained that it has a “clear stance since inception” that it is neither against any political party nor has any “malicious intention” to demean the role of opposition in democratic set up.
