KKTWWS celebrates 50th anniversary in Pfütsero

Pfütsero, December 3 (MExN): Khezha/Kuzha Tephe Women Welfare Society (KKTWWS) celebrated 50th Anniversary at Pfütsero Sports Complex on December 3 with Neiba Kronu, Minister for Planning and Coordination, Land Revenue and Parliamentary Affairs Nagaland as special guest.


Kronu appreciated the pioneers for envisioning a noble venture 50 years ago to empower women of the area through skill trainings. While celebrating the 50 years of existence, Kronu challenged the members that this celebration should mark maturity and urged the Women to move forward with promptness in executing its programme and activities. Addressing the man folk present in the meeting, he called on them to respect and honour women as they play vital role in transforming the society.


Kronu also challenged the women to step forward to take the lead role in the society without inferiority complex citing the instances of women leadership in the international platforms. Kronu, shared his vision to develop Pfütsero area to become a model in the state by developing infrastructure and tourism industry. He reminded the gathering about the huge eco-tourism scope considering the rich bio-diversity and beautiful landscape.


He appealed to the gathering that the people must do its part in the area of hospitality, cleanliness of its environment and promotion local cuisine.


He also shared about the project launched recently by the Entrepreneur Associates and reminded the people to make best use of the fruit tree which will be distributed to them soon. While appreciating women contribution in the development of economy in the area, he cited the huge prospect of coffee plantation and bee keeping to boost the economy.


Kronu urged the women present to set their priorities to train the young ones in the fear of God.


Kronu also released the 50th Anniversary Souvenir.


Earlier, Zhonelu Tunyi president Chakhesang Mothers Association congratulated the KKTWWS for achieving the milestone of 50 years  while presenting her greetings.


She also acknowledged that KKTWWS is the first Women organization to have made such achievement.
Tunyi also appreciated the pioneers and the present team of office bearers for leading the society so well to have come this far.


Wepretsho-u Kupa Chairperson KKTWWS extended the welcome address. The programme was lead by Viekope-u Kenye.


To mark the 50th Anniversary celebration mothers beauty contest was held where participation was drawn from the KKTWWS Village-wise women who have completed 50 years of age.


Kosono Chiezou from Khezhakeno villages was adjudged as the winner of the contest.


Neiwelhi-u Dianu from Pfutseromi Village and Mrs. Wete-u Wetsah secured first and second runner up.


Altogether more than 1000 women attended the celebration representing 8 villages and sub-societies from Kohima, Dimapur and Phek.
