Kohima DDMA discusses various issues

Kohima, April 17 (DIPR): The first quarterly meeting of District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Kohima was held at DPDB conference hall here on April 16.  

Reviewing the last meeting minutes, Kohima Deputy Commissioner & Chairman DDMA, Rajesh Soundararajan (IAS) stressed on India Disaster Resource Network (IDRN), which is an online inventory where information of various resources available with the line departments can be obtained.  

IDRN, he said, needs to be updated continuously and therefore requested the line departments to submit the same in the standard format within this month.  

While discussing agenda of monsoon preparedness, the DC requested the line departments to take up necessary measures in the alternative routes to avoid any eventuality in the coming monsoon season.  

Regarding the repair work near Soul Harvest Church, he requested the department concerned to expedite the work as it is badly affecting many things in the town. For this, necessary requirements and manpower from other departments will be extended as informed by the Power department and SP’s office, Kohima, he said.  

On Village Disaster Management Authority (VDMA), the Nodal Officer & ADC, TL Kiusumong apprised on the action taken and requested the administrative officers to take up the matter urgently in their respective areas.  

The DC also informed that the District Administration will write again to all the sub-divisions to form the VDMA within a timeline.  

With regard to Nagaland Emergency Preparedness Exercise (NEPEx) 2018, the DC informed that Mega Mock Drill will be held on April 26, where mock exercise on earthquake will be conducted in some selected locations. In this regard, meeting will be held on April 23 and 25. The DC also informed that the specific roles and responsibilities of various sections will be discussed for the exercise.  

District Disaster Management Officer, Kohima, Thejangulie Zao informed the members that NEPEx is a State organized exercise which started last year. Nagaland was the first State in India to conduct such statewide exercise apart from NDMA exercises, it was informed. Zao also asked the members to forward any infrastructural damage or any others in their areas so as to incorporate in the weekly situation report to the NSDMA.  

The meeting also discussed the structure of DEOC, where DC suggested for pre-fabricated containers which could be shifted conveniently whenever required.
