Kohima DPDB rewards best Village Adoption Committee

Kohima, January 10 (DIPR): The monthly District Planning & Development Board meeting-cum-Exit conference of Village Adoption programme was held on January 9 at DPDB Conference Hall, Kohima.  

Chairing the meeting, Deputy Commissioner and Vice-Chairman, DPDB Kohima, Rajesh Soundararajan, IAS appreciated the Village Adoption Committees and Adopted Village Chairmen for their commendable jobs carried out and co-operation extended to the visiting team. He stated that the successful culmination of Village Adoption Committees is a classic example of how we can achieve together as a team. He encouraged the members to work together and come out with such innovative activities for more development this year. The DC also gave away the awards to the winners.  

In connection with the forthcoming State Assembly Election, the DC requested the members especially the Power, PHE and Education departments to make sure all the minimum facilities for polling stations have been prepared. He also requested all the Heads of Offices to execute their duties as responsible officers in regard to exemption and requisition of government employees and vehicles. He also informed the members to attend the meeting in connection with the Republic Day celebration which will be held shortly and to keep track of their responsibilities.  

ADC, Planning and Member Secretary, Ketoho Luho while delivering the introductory remarks, stated that the Village Adoption Committees have been formed with a vision to see the living conditions of the grassroot level including some urban sectors. He appreciated the DPDB Kohima for coming forward to uplift the weakest and remotest villages in the district. He further urged the members to work harder for the upliftment of the villagers.  

The D-Block Ward Adoption Committee with their theme “Fostering development through people’s participation” under 9th Kohima Town A/C was adjudged the best performing team among the six Adoption Committees while Zhadima village under 11th Northern Angami bagged the second best team. The two best Village Adoption Committees were awarded cash prize of Rs. 30,000/- and Rs. 20,000/- respectively and a complimentary prize for the other four teams.  

All the Convenors of the Village Adoption Committees presented their reports on the developmental activities taken up in their respective adopted villages and wards. Adopted Villages Chairmen also expressed their appreciation and gratitude to the DPDB forum and the teams for their commendable services and contribution towards the upliftment of the villages and wards. ADC, Kohima, T. L. Kiusumong Tikhir who is also the Convenor of the Core Committee declared the winners and also delivered the vote of thanks.
