Kohima hotels and restaurants decides not to entertain tourists

Responding to outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic across the country, Kohima Hotels & Restaurants Union (KHRU) held its emergency meeting here today at Hotel Japfü and decided that no hotels will entertain foreign and domestic tourist/guest to check in hotels in and around Kohima till government gives further notification and situation becomes normal.


Stating that hotels in Kohima will keep open as usual, it however stated if the state government give notification to close down “we will close it in support of Government of Nagaland until the COVID-19 situation normalize.”
The Union stated that hotels will function as usual and will continue to entertain the local guest belonging to Nagaland districts.


The Union stated that in case of a suspect of COVID-19 if it is to be quarantine in hotel, the House decided that it will not allow at any cost to be done in hotel.


KHRU president Khrielakuo Sekhose urged upon the members to adopt the precautionary measures.


Dr Aseno and team from Chief Medical Office (CMO) Kohima updated the status of COVID-19 at the meeting and called for rigorous cleaning and sanitization of hotels to ensure safety.


She also stressed on the need to maintain frequent sanitization of high-contact points, such as elevator buttons, door handles, bathrooms etc. She said proper and frequent hand washing is vital to help combat the spread of viruses.


Meanwhile, KHRU thanked CMO team for highlighting and explaining in details about COVID-19 at the meeting. The Union assured that it will give full cooperation to the concerned department and Government of Nagaland as and when require.
