Kohima Lotha community celebrates Tokhu Emong

KOHIMA, NOVEMBER 10 (MExN): The Kohima Lotha community celebrated its premier Tokhu Emong festival at Naga Heritage Village, Kisama on November 7 last.  

Addressing the celebrants, Y. Sachio Ovung said that Lotha Nagas were considered as one of the more future-sighted tribal during the past and contributed immensely towards the Naga society in general. In this, Ovung urged the Lothas to carry the legacy and continue to contribute toward the Naga society. He also said that Lotha forefathers were known for honesty and urged all to usher friendship among society.  

Dr. P Ngullie vice president Lotha Hoho also exhorted the gathering. He said in order to cherish the identity of the Lotha Nagas; one should be back to roots. He also informed that Tokhu Emong is celebrated by the Lotha Nagas annually, which literally means post harvest festival. Folk song and dances marked the grand celebration.
