NAAC Peer Team with faculty and students of Baptist College.
Kohima, June 25 (MExN): The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) Peer Team members visited Baptist College Kohima on June 22 and 23 for the first cycle of assessment.
The team comprises Sukriti Ghosal, Registrar, Hindi University, Salkia Howrah, West Bengal, Bibhuti Bhushan Malik, Department of Sociology, Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University, Lucknow and Bashir Ahmad Dar, Principal, Government Degree College, Shopian, Jammu and Kashmir
The first day of the assessment comprised of power point presentations by the principal, IQAC coordinator and HoDs of the various departments of the college. This was followed by verification of documents, meeting with the Governing Body of the college, visit to the different departments, various physical facilities and interaction with students, non- teaching staff, Alumni, Parents and convenors of various committees.
The first day concluded with a cultural programme staged by students comprising of folk dances, folk songs, drama and display of cultural attires. The programme was compered by Dr. Tsenbeni, Assistant Coordinator IQAC.
NAAC team encourages introduction of science stream
The second day of the assessment commenced with the Peer Team's visit to the facilities of the extended campus at Sechü, Zubza, followed by checking of documentary evidence, report writing, discussion with the Principal and IQAC coordinator on outstanding issues of the college and report writing at Kohima campus.
The Exit Meeting which began with a welcome address by Dr Kekuchol Pusa, Principal, Baptist College was attended by the staff of the institution and Governing Body members.
Sukriti Ghosal, chairman of the team stated that Peer Team Members are not inspectors but validators whose duty is to validate the Self Study Report (SSR) prepared by the college. Quoting Oscar wilde's “Progress is the realisation of Ethiopia” he said, Baptist College should aim for such realization.
He acknowledged that Baptist College faculty was the strength of the college and students with immense potential were the wealth of the institution.
He stated that though there was still room for improvement, there is authenticity in the claims of the Self Study Report and various stake holders of the college. In addition to recommendations for improvement, he encouraged the college to aim for expansion of programmes and introduction of science stream and skill based courses given the huge space and resources available at Sechü Campus.
The exit meeting was chaired by Kezhalelhou Zatsu, IQAC Coordinator while vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Tsenbeni Assistant Coordinator IQAC.
