Kohima, February 3 (MExN): Kohima Police personnel arrested five persons and recovered contraband while manning Khuzama Inter-State Police Check Gate on February 2.
According to a press release from PRO, Kohima, police personnel detected and seized 15 soap cases each containing 15 gm of brown sugar along with 20 kg of contraband ganja which were packed in four polythene bags of 5 kg each.
The five persons arrested were identified as Lily (35 yrs), Village - Lai, Imphal, present address - ‘D’ Khel, Lai; Avinuo (28yrs), Village - Phuba, Imphal, present address -District Council Colony, Senapati; Choune (60 yrs), Village - Karung, Imphal, present address - Bazar Colony, Karung; Brecila (28 yrs), Village - Phaibung, present address - Council Colony, Senapati; Kaisa (30 yrs) Village - Thoifu, Imphal, present address - Council Colony, Senapati.
All the arrested persons were bound for Dimapur from Senapati in a taxi (Tata Winger) bearing registration No. MN01G-1376.
In another incident, Kohima police personnel intercepted one Tata Mobile B/R. No. AS 03M-3779 while conducting Motor Vehicle Certification Program (MVCP) at 10th Mile Road junction on February 2 and seized banned drugs - 2700 numbers of spasmoproxyvon capsules and 170 pet bottles of Elturex cough syrup. The driver of the vehicle arrested was identified as Chumben E Tsopoe (21 yrs), village - Pangti, present address - Supermarket, Dimapur.
On January 28, Kohima police intercepted one Mahindra Bolero B/R. No. NL02CA-0476 and seized 38 cases of MC Rum and 2 cases of Storm Beer while conducting MVCP at Tsiesema Basa along the Peducha Bypass road. The driver of the vehicle identified as Suyimsuwa (28 yrs), Village - Ungma, Mokokchung was arrested for possession of illicit IMFL.
