Kovi Meyase, CEO, Kohima Smart City Development Limited (KSCDL) once again appealed citizens of Kohima to participate in the Ease of Living (EOL) survey with only two days left until the survey culminate.

Addressing a press conference on February 28 at the KSCDL Conference Hall, Meyase updated on the activities carried out under Citizen's Engagement as part of the EOL index 2019. The team conducted awareness programs, signature campaigns, and distribution of posters, outreach initiatives with business communities, commuters, senior citizens and street vendors, and construction workers which were undertaken by the EOL volunteers.

The KSCDL team informed that the survey tallied 2338 citizens in Kohima who have responded online.
Avelu Rüho, Joint CEO, KSCDL noted that the EOL volunteers has made an extensive coverage where attempts were made to help people conduct the online survey. Sharing offline feedback of the survey with the citizens, Rüho stated that perceptions on the need and lack of amenities, facilities and employment opportunities were determined by the social and class structure of the city.

However, a common perception shared by most citizens was the need for recreational spaces and facilities.

With two days remaining for the survey, the CEO appealed to citizens to continue to try and increase the online responses.

“Very often as citizens, we complain about the lack of amenities. This online survey is a very good chance for citizens to actually share their experiences so that we can do a practical assessment.  To have your opinions heard by the Central Government is a big thing,” said Avelu Rüho, Joint CEO, KSCDL.

Meyase also announced the results of the inter-ward wall painting competition during the press conference.

New Market ward (Ward 8) won the first position, while High School Ward (ward 1) won the second. Officers Hill and NHAK (Ward 10) was adjudged the third. Lower Chandmari (Ward 13) and Electrical Agri ward (Ward 17) were adjudged in the consolation category. Meyase stated that the competition was judged on four criteria: creativity, message, artistry, and the design and concept. The winners of the competition can come and collected their awards on March 2 at the KSCDL office during office hours, informed the team.
