Onenienla Imsong (Onen Nenty) today embarked on a solo motorcycle ride through all the districts of Nagaland State under the banner ‘Kongro Naga on Wheels’ (KNOW) to spread the message of women empowerment.

The journey was flagged off by Nagaland State Governor, PB Acharya and his wife Kavita Acharya here this morning at Raj Bhavan, Kohima.

'KNOW' was formed recently to encourage women empowerment and to take up issues of social relevance. On a Royal Enfield Himalayan bike, Imsong will be covering all 12 districts, starting with Kiphire from today. An avid musician and a traveler, she plans to meet women across different professions and students.

“God and my passion are taking me to the 12 districts of Nagaland to tell people how fulfilling it is to do something your heart so desire,” she said.

Imsong, who started taking interest in motorcycles since her childhood, said that she would take this journey as an opportunity to reach out to the women folk to hear their untold stories and also share her story. It is also a way to challenge her limits. “In my journey, if their stories and mine inspire someone, it would be an achievement,” she stated.

"We are all beautifully designed in a unique way and we should make use of the given opportunities and fulfill the purpose driven life," Imsong said, adding that her desire is to inspire women to come out of their comfort zones and follow their dreams and passion.

She thanked the Nagaland Governor and his wife for giving her the opportunity to embark on this journey, and also acknowledged KK Motors, Monster beverage and Dream Café, friends and all wishers for their support.

“This bike ride is not only an adventure but also shows women empowerment. It will encourage women to stand on their own feet,” said Dinesh Kumar, Commissioner Secretary to Governor of Nagaland while speaking at the flagging off service.

“Imsong has organised this bike rally mainly to promote our Nagaland culture and adventure sports to give more exposure to the outside world.  Promoting a culture of speaking up also contributes to eliminating harassment, including gender discrimination. You are an inspiration to all the women in the state,” Kumar maintained.

He expressed confidence that this bike rally would capture the imagination of the people, empowering Naga women in demonstrating the “essential oneness of our integrated region.”
