Konyak Nagas in Myanmar declare its territory as non-infiltration zone

YINCHONG, NOVEMBER 13 (MExN): The Myanmar Konyak Union (MKU) which is the apex social and cultural institution of the Konyak Naga in Myanmar has declared its territory within Myanmar as a complete peace and non-infiltration zone and urged all Konyak citizens to foster and uphold peace within its soil. 


This was one of the resolve made during its advisory board council meeting held on November 5, 2019 at Yinchong Konyak village, a press statement issued by MKU president Khotai Konyak, chief advisor Khaomo dy. Angh and chief Angh of Longwa To-Nyei Angh. 


The MKU also extended support to the resolution of Konyak Union (India) on non violence whereby the declaration that any elements or groups that encourage violence and bloodshed within Konyak soil would be tagged its enemy. 


It also appealed the Naga political leaders to respect and honor eastern Konyak people and its soil that had “once cradled every infant Naga political leaders as their safe haven.” Hence, in tune with the KU (India) standing resolution, there should be no packages which divide the imaginary border but instead the Free Movement Regime should be safeguarded considering the social and cultural integrity of the Konyaks, it stressed. 


The MKU also appealed Interlocutor for Naga Peace Talks, RN Ravi to appeal the Government of India to uphold and safeguard the social & cultural integrity of the Konyak Naga tribes.


While asserting that Konyaks of Myanmar & India are one bonded with blood, it said it fully endorses and support the stand of the Konyak Union (India) in all its political, social and customary stands.
