Konyak orgs condemn assault on minor

Kohima, April 14 (MExN): The Konyak Students’ Union Kohima (KSUK) and Longchang Area Union Kohima (LAUK) in a joint statement strongly condemned the incident that was discovered on April 12, where a minor girl child (13years) who resides in the residence of the alleged couple as domestic worker was brutally assaulted physically rendering her with severe bruise and scar.

The organizations further appealed the appropriate authority to immediately initiate legal course of action and impose befitting punishment as per the law of the land.

“The union shall not be held responsible for any eventualities that may arise out of the loophole in the course of adjudication,” it stated.

In a separate release, the Konyak Nyupuh Sheko Khong (KNSK) Kohima Unit vehemently condemned the act.

The release stated that the accused SDFO Fishery Department, and his wife, an SSA teacher has beaten the child with “contradictory accusations against the child which is not acceptable.”

This is the time to wake up and say ‘No to Child Trafficking’ and stop this crime against children, it stated.

It further thanked KSUK and KU for their undying support for the “helpless children, Child Help line and North Police Station for their dedicated service.”
