Kiphire, June 10 (MExN): Krishi Kalyan Abhiyan, a programme to provide farmers with assistance and advice on improving their farming techniques and increasing their incomes, was launched in Kiphire district on June 8 at DC conference hall here.
A sensitization programme was also held subsequently for district agriculture & allied departments and village leaders for implementation of the programme.
Deputy Commissioner of Kiphire, Mohammad Ali Sihab (IAS) in his keynote address said since Kiphire was selected as one of the backward districts in India, the Government of India has made provisions for various packages and schemes to improve the current condition and situation of the district and its people.
In that respect, he encouraged the participants to make optimum and judicious use of the schemes and programmes for maximum benefit of the people and also to improve the socio-economic status of the people of Kiphire, stated a press release received here.
He urged farmers to learn the latest agriculture technology imparted by Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) for increasing the production and productivity and improve their living standard.
District Agriculture Officer and other allied departments presented the action plan for implementation of Krishi Kalyan Abhiyan in the district.
Altogether, 49 village leaders attended the launching programme, which was followed by interactive session between the village leaders and officers.
