A press note received here stated that it was in 2006, when Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu, the then Minister for Planning and Coordination, Higher Education, Urban Development laid the foundation stone and mooted the idea of KROS College.

After wide consultation and negotiations, the KES took the decisive step to open the college at one of the Ancestral Land at Leirie known as Zhüdougei - meaning the place of placing Warrior's Shield for taking rest after war.   The college was founded by the KES with the primary aim of providing higher education to the educationally and socially backward sections in general and the Nagas in particular, the press note added.
