DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 17 (MExN): The Khiamniungan Students’ Union (KSU) initiated a 12 Days road repairing from Noklak Hq to Pathso EAC Hq which was one of the oldest road under its jurisdiction constructed in the year 1966.

A press release from the Information & Publicity Secretary, Khiamniungan Students’ Union, L Shingnya claimed that the road was “neglected with no repairing by the department.”

“It was the lone life line for the people of Pathso area connecting Noklak HQ with total of the seven villages. The road condition was so pathetic where many unexpected accidents happened due to the negligence of the state government to repair the old aged road which is the only linkage between Noklak - Pathso area people,” the union added.

The KSU further informed that several organizations had appraised the state government for maintenance and repairing of the said road but the concerned department and the state government “turned deaf ear to the voice of the people and  make  lame excuses of shortage of sanctions and machineries.”

The union expressed dismay over state government, where most of the roads under Khiamniungan jurisdiction have been left unattended despite several approach and proposals. The KSU stated that, this type of initiatives will proceed further within its jurisdiction and appealed to the public, councils and churches to coordinate so as to be successful in maintaining the roads.
The union meanwhile appreciated the Pathso area councils and churches, Khiamniungan Baptist Churches Association, Kusong village council and Thang village council and individuals for their contributions in cash, materials and man labour.

The KSU also thanked the Executive Engineer PWD, Noklak for the machineries.
