KVK Zunheboto conducts SAC meeting

Zunheboto, February 15 (MExN): Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Zunheboto, Nagaland University conducted its 10th Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) meeting at Conference Hall, Nagaland University Lumami on February 12, under the Chairmanship of Professor P Lal, Vice Chancellor, Nagaland University.


The meeting was attended by Director, ATARI, Zone – VII Dr Bidyut C Deka as the special guest along with Dean Incharge, Dr Daiho, Professor & Head, Plant Pathology, Dr Sahu, Assistant Professor, Agricultural statistics, Dean RDC, Professor B Kilangla Jamir, HoDs and representatives of Agri & Allied departments of Zunheboto, PD ATMA and his team and farmers.


Dr Bidyut requested the SAC members to come up with a concrete plan about the specific needs of farmers of each block and road map to address their issues. He emphasized upon the need of convergence among the departments so that the farmers get their due benefits.


Vice Chancellor, Nagaland University, Prof P Lal in his concluding remark spoke on the various measures needed to be taken to make the farmers aware of new technology and its adoption so that they get better yield which will indirectly creates employment opportunities.


Earlier, welcome speech was delivered by Dr. Daiho, Professor & Head, Plant Pathology, SASRD, Nagaland University, Dr Rakesh Kr Chaurasia, Senior Scientist & Head presented the Annual Progress Report of 2018-19 followed by presentation of Annual Action Plan by Edenly Chishi, ACTO (Horticulture).


The house discussed on the various problems faced by the farming community and measures to be taken to resolve their issue along with increasing their income.


HoDs of Agri & Allied as well as PD ATMA decided to have a progressive farmer meeting along with KVK, where progressive farmers of each block will participate to discuss measures to improve productivity of crops and animals. HoD Horticulture emphasized on development of vegetable village in the district. PD, LRD also encouraged the farmers to come forward for coffee plantation.
