Labour dept notifies on payment of wages

Kohima, February 2 (DIPR): In exercise of the power conferred under Section 6 of the Payment of Wages (Amendment) Ordinance, 2016, the Government has declared the following establishments as industrial or other establishment wherein the employer shall pay to every person employed, their due wages only by cheque or by crediting the wages in his bank account.  

The list of industrial or other establishments are: Factories, Hotels & Restaurants, Bakeries & Confectionaries, Shopping Malls, Print Media, Automobile Workshops & Showrooms, Private Institutions, Private Hospitals & Nursing Homes, Contractors Establishments, Petroleum/Diesel Pumps, LPG Agencies and Local Authority.  

In another notification, in exercise of the power conferred under Section 1 (5) of the Payment of Wages Act, 1936 read with sub clause (h) of clause (ii) under Section 2 of the Act (Central Act No. 4 of 1936), the Government has declared the following establishments as industrial or other establishments for the purpose of the said sub-clause with immediate effect: Factories, Hotels & Restaurants, Bakeries & Confectionaries, Shopping Malls, Print Media, Automobile Workshops & Showrooms, Private Institutions, Private Hospitals & Nursing Homes, Contractors Establishments, Petroleum/Diesel Pumps, LPG Agencies and Local Authority.
