Landowners call for re-measuring length of NH-102A in Shajouba village

Senapati, September 5 (MExN): The Affected land owners of Shajouba Village and the Shajouba Village Council have shot off a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner of Senapati District demanding that the Government re-measure the length of the Ukhrul-Tolloi-Tadubi NH 102A road in Shajouba area.   The memorandum was also copied to the Manipur PHED and Stationery Minister, the SDO Song Song, the SDO Mao Maram, Tadubi and Shajouba MDC Member D.A. Sakhrie.   Claiming that portion of the NH 102A road at Shajouba village passes through residential areas, the memorandum expressed regret that the alignments and surveys were not carried out with notifications, detailing guidelines and that the assessments were done through verbal information to the villages by the departments of Forest, Horticultures, Agricultures, PWD and CE Testing Company Private Company Ltd (CE-TC PL) Kolkata.   “Whenever the land owners or the village authority demand to see the circular/notice of the appropriate authority of their assignments, they could not produce and therefore questions the intent of the government,” the memo alleged while arguing that, “Vague verbal information does not qualify as official notice.”   While stating that it had thought the expansion would be on both or on one side of the old existing road, the memorandum claimed that the CE-TCPL had slight different alignment drawings “and the land owners are confused whose lands are affected and whose lands are left untouched.”   In this connection, the village council and the affected landowners demanded that a sketch road map of NH 102A in the Shajouba portion be supplied to the village including all individual names and their recorded land measurements. It also called for notices of all officials assignments on expansion of NH 102A be served to the village chairman/secretary and publishing of the same in the local dailies in future.
