Landslide damage house in Kohima

One house was damaged in a landslide at Supply Colony, PR Hill Lower-2 around 2:30 pm on September 29. No casualties were reported. According to residents, two families stayed in the ground floor while the first floor was occupied for commercial purpose.  

According to a colony youth, the house which was constructed next to drainage was on the verge of collapse following heavy rains where the retaining wall had already collapsed earlier. The damaged house situated right opposite St Peter High School, cave down as a result of the collapse of the retaining wall protecting the road.  

According to a colony resident, when the house partially fell, the colony alerted the police, and the Disaster Management Team which arrived headed by Victor Yhome and C Wanao, EAC, Kohima. A recovery van was also provided by the DEF Kohima where the joint team removed the collapsed house and averted further dangers of houses in the adjacent area from being damaged.
