Langsimngyi celebrates bond of brothers & sisters

Kohima, October 31 (MExN): The Benreului Nkwa Kohima celebrated Lamsimngyi with great fun and gaiety at RCEMPA Phezhu Jotsoma on October 31. The celebration started with Benreume man folk presenting Nkwa (prelude for celebrations) lead by Hiatwa Iralu Assistant Commandment 4th NAP Bn Thizama.  

Visa Meru an elder among the Benreume in Kohima exhorting the members said that Lamsimngyi is the most significant festival of the Zeliang community celebrated by both young and old showcasing our rich culture and tradition. He expressed that Lamsimngyi festival is to celebrate the special relationship between brothers and sisters and also with our near and dear ones.  

He called upon the young and old to celebrate the festival understanding the significance of the celebration. He urged the Benreume living in Kohima to strengthen community spirit and pass on the good deeds of the forefathers’, the knowledge and rich tradition to our next generation.  

Ebeusing Nsarangbe outgoing President Benreului Nkwa expressed joy for the team spirit and also the support and cooperation shown to him during his tenure. He thanked the elders and the members for their full cooperation and hoped that continual support will be rendered to the new elected team.  

Benreului Nkwa Kohima honoured two brides to be this year at the festival, which has been the tradition every year and has been followed ever since our forefather’s time. The best portion from the meat (pig leg) is given to the Bride to be showing their love and respect before they are married off.  

The programme was chaired by Kangzangding Thou General Secretary BNK. Meritorious student of HSLC, HSSLC, Graduates and Postgraduates were facilitated with cash award at the program. New office bearers for the year 2017-19 were elected. During the general discussion hour important agendas were discussed. Treasures report was also presented by Peihau Nsarangbe. Prayers were invoke by Keku Zeliang and Pauleu Liegise followed by Lamsimngyi feast.
