DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 18 (MExN): After 73 year of converting to Christianity, Lekie Baptist Church (LBC), ZBCC Peren Nagaland and the whole community of Lekie celebrated thanks giving programme over “cent percent Christianity convert” on November 17 at Lekie/Peletkie Baptist Church premises under the theme “Seen a great light” (Isaiah 9:2).

The programme coincided with a three-day Zeme Baptist Church Council (ZBCC) spiritual gift awakening programme that commenced from November 16 hosted by LBC and culminated on November 18, informed a press release from Ilanggwangbe Miliang, Sunday School Superintendent, LBC.

Delivering a message during the celebration, Executive Secretary, Zeme Baptist Church Council (ZBCC), Izieteilung Terieng noted that in 1946, some citizen from Lekie village also known as Peletkie village “accepted Jesus Christ, thereby spreading its branches resulting in cent per cent Christianity in the village.”

Terieng explained that “Light” is a “phenomenal creation of God which cannot be felt and touched by human but could only be seen.” He further spoke on the role of the people who have seen light and appealed to the congregation to remember their fall and repent “for they have seen light and accepted Christ taking cognizance of the importance of Christianity.” Terieng pointed out that when people lose connection with Jesus Christ, “they lose light” but also remarked that when connection between Jesus Christ and people are intact, they see light.

He called upon the gathering to step spiritually forward to see more light and embark on being a true Christian.

Delivering a short speech during the service, Lekie Mtei Nko (LMN), the apex organization of the citizen of Lekie/Peletkie, Hiarwetlang Kenn acknowledged the wisdom and decision of the last person who accepted Christ, Nsamriale. The first person from Lekie village to convert to Christianity was Late Heicibambe, father of Haila, ex-deacon LBC while the last person was an 85 year old woman Nsamriale, who converted in 2018, the release claimed. A token of appreciation were also presented to the children and grand children of Late Heicibambe and to Nsamriale.
