At least 27 hospitalized after food poisoning

Diphu, October 11 (MExN): At least 27 people, including those as young as 2 years old, were hospitalized en masse in Diphu town for food poisoning. Most are from the Rengma Naga community in Karbi Anglong, while some patients are Karbi, Lotha and Kuki.

 

The people were struck by food poisoning after eating sandwiches from a local bakery that were served at a prayer meeting in Rengma Colony, Diphu Town, on October 10. The oldest affected is 62 years old while the youngest is 2 years. They have been admitted to Diphu Civil Hospital where they are getting treatment. Some patients were referred to Dimapur later at night after becoming critical.

 

The Deputy Commissioner of Karbi Anglong alongside Executive Members and Members of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council also visited the patients at Diphu Civil Hospital in the evening.
