Leave the bitter experiences of elections behind, NDPP urges

DIMAPUR, MARCH 6 (MExN): The Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) on Tuesday appealed to all sections of the people to “leave the bitter experiences of the elections behind” and come together under a spirit of unity and oneness in the greater interest of the citizens of Nagaland.

A press release issued by NDPP stated that by coming together, all sections can collectively work towards achieving common endeavors of economic growth, all round development and lasting peace.

The press release issued by NDPP media and communication committee informed of the first meeting of the NDPP Legislature Party on March 5 at Hotel Vivor in Kohima and reiterated its commitment to tirelessly work for the welfare of the people and leave no stone unturned in achieving the commitments of the NDPP manifesto, which it claimed as “sacred and mandated by the people of Nagaland.”

The house at the meeting endorsed the stand of the party that it will bring positive change, provide good governance, transparent administration and redraw a new roadmap of progressive development for a resurgent Nagaland.   It assured that the party will promote meritocracy, ensure justice, rule of law and remove VIP culture.

The house also reaffirmed the resolution of putting the Indo-Naga political problem at the top of the party’s agenda and that it would play the role of facilitator and make every possible effort to bring about an early solution that is honourable, inclusive and acceptable to the people.

While appreciating the Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his support and positive participation in the election campaign, and the BJP for extending all possible cooperation to the party, the house also congratulated the Election Commission, including the administration, police and law enforcing agencies, for the successful conduct of the general election.

It also appreciated the positive role of the church, tribal hohos, civil societies, mass based organizations, NGOs and the citizens of the state for strengthening the foundations of democracy.

Finally, the house expressed its sincere appreciation to the electorates of Nagaland for giving its mandate in favour of the NDPP-BJP alliance under the leadership of chief ministerial candidates Neiphiu Rio.
