LKM: Football and volley semi final berths filled

Teams come out to the field for one of the football semi final matches.

DIMAPUR, JANUARY 10 (MExN): The ongoing Langpangkong Kaketshir Mungdang (LKM) saw the football defending champion Merangkong outplay Changtongya 3-0 making them the first team to reach semi-final.


Meanwhile, Yaongyimsen booked their semifinal berth beating Chakpa in penalty kick after the match ended in draw during the speculated time. In the other match, consistent Yaongyimti beat Unger 3-0 while the last match of the evening ended Chuchuyimlang beating the spirited Kangtsung 2-1.


In volleyball men, the entertaining competitive match between Changtongya and Changtongyayimsen saw the former as the champion of LKM volleyball 2019 while Merangkong emerge as the champion of women volleyball beating Salulamang in the final.




MLA Amenba Yaden IFS (Rtd) graced the program and stated how important rule sports play as an alternative for unemployment crises and to take major part in India’s vision of “sports nation”. He also advised present generation the need to retrieve the cultural respect that was once the basis of our forefathers.


The speaker of the program, Senti Ao IAS, Secretary Fishery and Aquatic Resources meanwhile spoke on how our ancestors faced trouble and stood for Unity through Road. He also emphasized on the importance of clean election and how it creates imbalance in developmental activities. He further stated the urgent need for social connection for advancement of all and economic explosion at the grassroots level, the importance of self-help group for financial activities and dependence on it for personal activities and survival.


The crowd also witnessed performances by entertainers such as Alica group from Longkong and Red Neck from Tuli town with a six member team. Red Neck entertained the crowd with the message “Vision for Langpangkong”.
The event was also saw a live performance by ‘Lord of Rocks.’
