Home department on society’s registration

Kohima, January 25 (DIPR):
The Home Department, Societies Registration Cell in an office memorandum has reiterated that aims and objects of many applications received in this Department for registration under the Societies Registration Act 1860 do not conform to the provision of the Act.
Sections-20 of the Societies Registration Act 1860 reads as follows: “To what the Act applies: Charitable Societies, the military orphan funds for societies established at several presidencies of India, societies established for the promotion of Science, literature, or the fine arts, for instruction, the diffusion of useful knowledge, (the diffusion of political education), the foundation or maintenance of libraries or reading rooms for general use among the members or open to the public, or public museums and galleries of paintings and other works of art, collection of natural history, mechanical and philosophical inventions, instruments or designs.
It is hereby reiterated that applicant societies whose aims and objects conform to the above provisions alone shall be considered for registration under the said Act. In case of deviations from the above provisions, the matter will be decided in consultation with the Justice & Law Department.

EUUN for proactive vigil 

Dimapur, January 24 (MExN): The Dimapur unit of the Educated Unemployed Union of Nagaland (EUUN) said it has “resolved to take necessary actions against the concerned authorities for any manipulation or self-interest activities.”
The unit met on January 22 in Dimapur. The members discussed issues relating to “immigration problem,” rise in unemployment among educated youths and appointment of non-locals in “different private firms.” The union said it has decided to take action against the authorities in concern “for any manipulations or self interest activities.” “The union will not remain silent against any corruption or malpractices which is against the interest f the educated unemployed youths of Dimapur,” the union said in a note today. The unit also said it will render full cooperation to its parent body the EUUN.
