Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) president K Therie today said that the Lotus (BJP) will not grow in the North East.

“The BJP/ Lotus will not grow in the North East. There will be no impact,” he said while talking to media persons on the sideline of the launching of NPCC “election war room” at Congress Bhavan here.

On the formation of North-East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) with an aim to unite non-Congress parties of the region, Therie said, “I don’t think convener Himanta Biswa Sarma has any credibility in the North East society.”

On the recently formed Nagaland Congress, Therie asserted that the NPCC is under no threat.  “None our Congress unit in the village have gone with them. Our village units/ACCs are all intact,” the NPCC chief said.

Therie further said he was not worried about perceived threat of division of vote banks among the Congress supporters with the formation of the new break away party.

The tenure of the present NPF-led DAN government will end in February 2018. Asked about the strategy of NPCC for the forthcoming assembly polls in the state, he said, “As of now we are going all out single.” He said the NPCC will be the real challenger for the ruling NPF in the 2018 elections as other parties won't pose any threat.

He pointed out that in all the 60 Assembly Constituencies it has office bearers who are determined to fight.

“There is no constituency where we don’t have our Congress unit,” he said while claiming, “We are prepared for any moment, any time.”
