Lower Bayavü Giants lift NA-1 T20 Bash

Lower Bayavü Giants beat Upper Bayavü Sixers by 18 runs in the final match to win the 5th edition of 10-Northern Angami-I T20 Bash here at Kohima Village Ground, Ziekezou on Friday.  

Lower Bayavii Giants elected to bat and set a mammoth target of 174/7 in 20 overs. Tapitu (57) and Chumbe (33) were the highest scorers for Giants while Sepichem claimed three wickets in four overs.  

In reply, Upper Bayavii ran short of 18 runs as they scored only 156/7 in 20 overs. Moarenba (43) and Depend (32) contributed the highest runs for Sixers while Thungchamo claimed 4 wickets in 4 overs for Giants. Thungchamo was adjudged as the man of the final match.  

The champion Lower Bayavii Giants walked home with a cash prize of Rs 1 lakh while runners up Upper Bayavii Sixers received Rs 50,000 along with running trophies.  

Tapitu of Lower Bayavii Giants (245 runs) emerged highest run scorer and pocketed Rs.5000 while highest wicket taker Thungchamo of Lower Bayavii Giants (12 wickets) also received an award of Rs.5000.  

Khriesavituo of North Block Warriors bagged player of the tournament title and received Hero Honda Scooty.  

D. Khel United was declared as best discipline team an awarded with Rs. 10,000.   The three-week long tournament was organised by Brotherhood Group with the initiative and complete sponsorship of Khriehu Liezietsu under the theme ‘Bat for unity.’
