LYO sports meet from October 24

Kohima, October 21 (MExN): The Lhisemia Youth Organization (LYO) is organizing its sports meet on from October 24 -26 at TM School Ground, L.  Khel, Kohima village.


With the intension to promote and explore hidden talents, the LYO is organizing this year sports meet in such a way that the players get the best opportunity to showcase their talents.


Many players from the khel have excelled in their respective discipline through this tournament.


With the exposure from the sports meet, the LYO firmly believed that players get recognition from outside the khel and represent Nagaland and beyond as it was done in the past.


With the Naga Wresting gaining popularity and to encourage its youth to continue its traditional game, a Hero Honda bike will be awarded to the champion.


The selected players will also be representing Lhisemia Khel at Kohima village Sports Meet 2020 which is scheduled for January 6 - 11 next year.


Besides sports, the meet also focuses in other fields like art, music to name some few.


With the intention to gather all the youth members to have a sense of oneness and unity, LYO invites all its members near and far to participate in the sports meet.


On 26 October, LYO is collaborating with the Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) to sensitize the community in fighting against Single Use plastic bags, Cross Country under the theme "Say No to Plastic will be flagged off at Thevokemouzie the place where the first Kohima village sports was held.


Musical extravaganza and prize distribution ceremony will be held on the 26 October 2019 at L.Khel indoor stadium.


On 24 October, athletics events will take place for both Men & Women featuring 100 mtr, 200 mtr, 400mtr (800mtr-1500mtr-3000mtr for Men). Discuss throw,  shot put, high jump, triple jump


October 24 will see events in Indoor Games (Men &Women)-Badminton, Table Tennis, Chess (Men), Games (Men &Women)-Basketball, Volley ball & Football (Men); followed by Wrestling and Cross Country race on October 26.


MLA Khriehu Liezietsu will grace the occasion as the special guest and Lhisemia Council as Guest of honour.
