An unidentified gunman shot at and injured a non-Manipuri in Imphal’s Thangmeiband area on Sunday night. The incident happened at around 7.15 pm.
The injured non-local was identified as one Jagalbadhu Malik (29), a resident of Jaipur district of Odisha staying in Imphal for the last six years and engaging in pipe fitting works.
The gunman shot Malik while he was walking with one of his friends at Thangmeiband Thingel Maru under Lamphel police station, police said.
A bullet hit on his left chest and exited on the right side the chest. He has been admitted at Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) hospital under critical condition.
Police are investigating the incident. It is not certain as to who could be behind the incident and for what reasons.
