Dimapur, June 6 (MExN): Mangkolemba town was adopted as Malaria Free Model Village under National Vector Borne Deficiency Control Programme (NVBDCP) on June 6 at Mangkolemba Town Hall.
A press release stated that Dr Vikiyie Losu, Director of Health during the declaration ceremony under NVBDCP, which is also a first in the state, highlighted the aims and goals of Malaria Elimination Programme in the country by 2030.
He also discussed the preventive measures undertaken by the government, namely the Long-Lasting Insecticidal Nets (LLIN) and Indoor Residual Spraying (IRS) and challenged the stakeholders to work together with the Department for the success of the programme.
Dr Marina Yaden, DVBO (NVBDP) presented an overview PowerPoint presentation on malaria cases in the district.
A special presentation was also given by Temjentila, student of Baptist Higher Secondary School and a short speech was delivered by ADC, Mangkolemba.
