Manipur ministers missing: Opp leader O Joy

Imphal, June 24 (NNN): A 'missing case' of Manipur ministers will be filed at police stations if they continue evading opposition MLAs, said senior opposition leader O Joy Friday.  The acerbic comment was stated by O Joy, a Manipur People’s Party (MPP) MLA, Friday on the sideline of his visit to the Environment and Ecological Park at the MLA’s constituency in Langthabal.
"The flagship programs of the Secular Progressive Front (SPF) government of Manipur have been a total letdown. MGNREGS has not been fully implemented in Imphal East and Imphal West districts. Funds for the projects have stopped coming because the concerned authorities failed to submit the progress reports in time", O Joy alleged.
“The opposition MLAs have been trying to meet the ministers in this regards but the ministers have consistently been evading us. The opposition MLAs are regularly turned back from the offices and residences of the ministers due to unavailability or on flimsy excuses. When attempts are made to contact the ministers on their mobiles, the reply is always that they are on a tour,” he said.
“We (the opposition MLAs) want to meet the ministers regarding development works in our constituencies and not for personal favor. Why then are the ministers avoiding the MLAs,” he asked.
Because of such apathy of the ministers development works suffer forestalling or incompletion, he said, and added that the chief minister should summarily remove such incompetent ministers who do not know their responsibilities from the government.
The senior leader also said that if the ministers continue to evade meeting the MLAs, a complain would be sent to the chief minister and the governor of the state and a 'missing case' will be lodged with the police.
