The next round of ‘tripartite talk’ on the district creation issue will be held on September 1, 2018 between the Central Government, the United Naga Council (UNC) and the State Government of Manipur. The talk will be held at Senapati from 11:00 am onwards.

“We have been waiting final words from the Government whether they can really revoke the decision of the previous Government of Manipur in creating the new districts,” Gaidon Kamei, President of the UNC informed Newmai News Network tonight. He also said that the BJP led Government of Manipur is mute about what the Congress Government led by Ibobi Singh had done. “It appears that whether the BJP Government or the Congress Government, when it comes to against the interest of the Nagas, they all are one,” the UNC President also said.

Gaidon Kamei then said that the Naga people will take their own course of measures depending on the outcome of the September 1 ‘tripartite talk’. The UNC President also said that the Nagas were made to “wait this long” by the Government on the issue. “Our patience has run out now,” stated the UNC President. “The Government has been giving us many promises and assurances on the district creation issue but for how long should the Naga people wait?” asked Gaidon Kamei.

The last round of ‘tripartite talk’ was held on May 19, 2018. In that talk it was decided that the next round of talk would be held on July 28. However, that talk was postponed due to some “exigencies” of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Government of India.
