Manipur OSCC conduct meeting

Plights of the drivers and security personnel escorting petroleum products carriers were discussed in the 2nd “Onshore Security Coordination Committee (OSCC) of Manipur” held in Imphal on Wednesday.

 

The meeting chaired by ManipurDirector General of Police (DGP), LM Khoute and held at Hotel Classic Grande, discussed in detail on various issues pertaining to security of oil and gas industries of the state, an official source said. It also said the meeting further deliberated upon certain welfare measures required to be taken up for the security personnel and drivers of tankers plying along national highways.

 

The meeting discussed the inconveniences being faced by drivers of the petroleum product carriers and security personnel escorting them along the national highways in the absence of proper toilet facilities, shelters etc.

 

Noting the matter seriously, the meeting decided to apprise the concerned authority for construction of toilet facilities, shelters and ambulance service along the highways.

 

The meeting was attended by representatives of various stakeholders of the oil and gas industry. Security advisor of IOC (Indian Oil Company) BK Ravi and top officials of the Intelligence Bureau (IB), CRPF, state Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution and Commerce and Industries department were among others who attended the meeting.

 

SPs of Noney district, Imphal West district and Jiribam where the NH-37 passes through also attended the meeting.

 

The Onshore Security Coordination Committee was constituted by Union ministry of Home Affairs in 2016 to provide adequate security to the oil and gas industries through coordination between oil marketing companies, state police and security agencies of both the Centre and state government.

 

Wednesday’s meeting was the second one since the inception of the OSCC of Manipur. The first meeting was held in January 2018 in Imphal.
