Newmai News Network Imphal |June 22 Manipur will have a 'Flying Doctor' or 'Flying Dispensary' soon, informed State Governor Dr Najma Heptulla on Friday. She was speaking at the inauguration of Muolvaiphei Rural Health and Research Centre Hospital (MRH & RC) today at Muolvaiphei, Churachandpur district in south Manipur. The Governor also attended the 20th Batch of Graduation Ceremony of GNM students of Bethesda School/College of Nursing, Muolvaiphei, Churachandpur. "After realising the shortcomings of health services in the remote areas in the State especially the hill districts she pursued the Central Government for introducing ‘Flying Doctor’ in the State. Under this, there will be medical outreach for timely medical assistance through helicopters. Such a service will be a reality soon as the Central Government has already announced for starting the ‘Flying Dispensary,’" the Governor added. She also service rendered by Rural Health & Research Centre as a Non-Governmental Organisation for the people in general and the people in hill areas in particular for more than two decades. “It is heartening to know that the Research Centre Hospital is presently running one School of Nursing, one College of Nursing and one Widow Shelter Home and it is poised to further expand its services,” she said. Graduation ceremony is an important event of any institute which acknowledges the achievements of the new graduates, Dr Heptulla remind the graduating students that they are very fortunate to be where they are at that joyous moment and that they should thank their teachers, friends and especially their families who have been a constant source of support. “The nursing students should keep themselves well grounded and constantly remind themselves that they should try to utilize their full potential for the well being of the society which has enormously contributed for their success,” she said. The Governor said that she is hopeful that Muolvaiphei Rural Health & Research Centre Hospital will be in a position to partly bridge the gap along felt need of the health care system in the district and also be able to meet the requirements of trained Nurses within and outside the state. She said that she has always maintained that the girls of Manipur do exceedingly well in hospitality sector and they have a good prospect ahead. It is an undeniable fact that the Nurses constitute an indispensable cog in the wheel of any healthcare system in the world and proficient Nurses are always in demand. It is known to be a profession of dedication and sacrifice and its source of sustenance is the boundless love for fellow beings. The Governor urged all those who have joined nursing profession to live up to the ideals set by ‘Lady with the Lamp’ Florence Nightingale who was the embodiment of the virtues of the profession. She also urged the graduating students to be efficient and committed to the chosen profession as they are on the threshold to embark upon a new journey to enter into the next phase of their life. She also added that they must always remember the adage that success has no guaranteed magic formula but one can always pick up some major contributory factors to success. The Governor further stated that during her visits to rural areas in the State, she found buildings exist, but doctors, health workers and medicines are not available. People see the buildings, but they do not get adequate health care and soon they start losing faith in the system. Those selfless and generous people who have taken the trouble to establish this Health & Research Centre Hospital is really laudable and express her confidence that the newly inaugurated Health & Research Centre will be able to look after the unfortunate and needy people of the area to a great extent. The Governor also extended her good wishes to each one of the graduating students success in their chosen career and have the belief that they will make a major contribution in making Manipur developed in the Health sector. As part of the function, the Governor also handed over a certificate and memento to the topper of session 2014-18 student of the Nursing College. Muolvaiphei Village Authority and Hmar Mothers’ Association (HMA) also presented mementos and gifts to the Governor as mark of respect and for coming to the village. Mentioned may be made that Dr. Najma Heptulla is the first Governor to visit this place.
