MCCI flays extortion demand; vows illegal taxation will not to be entertained in Mkg

DIMAPUR, APRIL 21 (MExN): The Mokokchung Chamber of Commerce & Industries (MCCI) on Sunday reported that a particular section of the business community in Mokokchung town was issued a demand notice by a deputy kilonser of a Naga Political Group.

According to a press statement from the MCCI, a section of business community was asked to “contribute a sum of Rs 10, 00,000 to its chaplee ministry against “dealership/shop/various business establishment” on or before April 30, 2019.

Taking strong exception against such demand, the MCCI have strongly resolved that as reiterated earlier on multiple occasions, illegal taxations shall not be allowed in Mokokchung and that the said demand shall not be entertained under any circumstances, whatsoever.

It also stated that this latest demand notice is a serious violation and infringement on the rights of the business community, which it vowed will not be compromised with.
