MDFA Trophy: NUSU win, Hills XI and Alempang settle for draw

In the first match of the second day of the ongoing MDFA tourney, Alempang YA and Hills XI FC of Pool B settled for a point each after their match ended in a draw.
After both teams failed to convert their opportunities in the first half of the match, Imliwati of Hills XI FC swept forward from his position in the back to draw first blood when he found the back of the net in the 60th minute. However, just one minute before regulation time, Alempang’s midfielder Imkongyanger found the equalizer and salvaged an all-important point for his team.
In the second match of the day, NUSU Football Team got the better of an inexperienced Unicorn FC side in their Pool C encounter as the boys from Nagaland University humbled the debutants 4 goals to nil. Temsuakum struck twice for NUSU while Chetsho Lasuh and Imlikokba joined him to share the spoils by scoring a goal each.
MDFA tourney goes plastic free
Joining the campaign against plastic pollution, the Mokokchung District Football Association has declared the ongoing MDFA Trophy 2019 tournament as plastic free. MDFA and the organizing committee of the tournament has informed all participating teams to heed to this call.
MDFA president, Meyisanger Lemtur said that all banned plastic items will be restricted in the venue. It was also informed that playing teams will be provided with drinking water dispensers in their dugouts and the management of all the teams have been instructed not to bring packaged drinking water bottles.
The MDFA president also thanked the volunteers of Mopungchuket Baptist Church Youth Ministry for their service in cleaning the gallery stands and peripheries of the venue on all match days of the tournament.
