Meeting highlights importance of organic farming

Kohima, November 7 (MExN): The inaugural meeting of Kohima District Organic Farmer Producer Organisation Co-operative Society on organic farming under Mission Organic Value Chain Development for North Eastern Region was held on November 3 at District Agriculture Office here.  

District Agriculture Officer, Vizonyu Liezie explained the importance and potential of organic farming in the district, according to a press release. He also emphasized on the vital role of Farmer Producer Organisation in marketing of the organic produces and branding of premium organic products from the district.  

Informing on the role of the co-operative societies, Anthony N. Yhome, Dy. RCS Kohima district encouraged the organic farmers to work collectively and avail the opportunities and facilities provided by the Department.  

Vikosielie Nagi, SICS, ARCS office Kohima explained the procedures and guidelines for registration of Farmer Producer Organisation Co-operative Societies.
