Aggrieved with pending salaries which are rightfully due to them, teachers under the banner All Garo Hills SSA School Teachers’ Association (AGHSSASTA) have declared to agitate if their pending salaries are not released before November 13.

The teachers, as per a memo sent to Education Minister, Lahkmen Rymbui, have sought the immediate redress of their problems stating without their dues paid to them, they have been facing enormous financial constraints.

The teachers are demanding the release of their three months' salaries between August and October this year.
“Exams of our children are due as are the fees, bus fare, school fees or our children will not be allowed to appear for their annual exams. We therefore request you to kindly release our salaries at the earliest,” said the teachers. They added that a decision to agitate was taken in their last meeting on October 26.

“If our pending salaries are not released by November 13, we will have no other option than to resort to democratic agitations all across Garo Hills,” asserted the teachers.
