Meghalaya may see the creation of new Civil – Sub Divisions with the state government informing that it is considering whether this can be worked out in the near future.
During the Assembly session here on Wednesday, Home Minister, James K Sangma assured that the creation of a new Civil Sub-Division at Dalu in West Garo Hills district will be examined by the government while replying to a query raised by NPP MLA, Brening A Sangma.
Soon after this, Congress legislator from Mawsynram Himalaya Muktan Shangpliang also urged the government to also consider his proposal for creating a new Civil Sub-Division for Mawsynram while pointing out that this is a long felt need of the people of the constituency.
Earlier highlighting the problems faced by the people in his constituency, Brening said that people have to travel for more than three hours from Dalu to Tura, the district headquarter, to get their official work done.
At present, there are eight civil sub-divisions which include Sohra, Mairang, Amlarem, Pynursla, Mawshynrut, Dadenggre and Chokpot.
