Merentoshi conferred Ideal Youth MLA

Kohima, January 30 (DIPR): MLA & Advisor to the Chief Minister, Merentoshi R. Jamir was conferred the Aadarsh Yuva Vidhayak 2015 (Ideal Youth MLA) on January 28 at the 6th annual national conclave of Bharatiya Chhatra Sansad (Indian Student Parliament) at MAEER’s MIT Campus, Pune.

A citation, shawl and trophy was presented to Merentoshi by Speaker, Chhatisgarh State Legislative Assembly, Gaureshankar Agrawal, Former DG, Bureau of Police Research & Development, Dr. Kiran Bedi, IPS (Retd) and former Union Minister P. Chidambaram.   The Ideal Youth MLA is conferred by the Bharatiya Chhatra Sansad Foundation to 16 young MLAs from different states and political parties of India. The idea is to encourage youth participation in politics by recognizing the positive change these young legislators have brought in the society.   Launched in 2011, Bharatiya Chhatra Sansad aims to revolutionise the mindset of younger generations and ignite their spirit to enter public life with a purpose to serve the nation. It is an apolitical outfit and does not engage in any mainstream party politics. It is transforming the outlook of youth and reaffirming their respect for politics, political leaders, democracy and its institutions. It is raising their extent of sensitivity, awareness, involvement, responsiveness, access and say in political and democratic processes so that a healthy democratic system can be evolved to produce competent public leaders and policy makers, from the grassroots and from all walks of life.
