Meriema BC centenary celebration underway

Meriema | January 14 : The three days long centenary celebration (1911-2011) of Meriema Baptist Church (MBC) got underway here this afternoon.
Several hundreds of congregation from various corners turned up at the introductory service this evening and recalled the formative year of MBC and gave thanks to God for the blessing over the 100 years of Christian ministry in the village. Marking the commencement of the celebration, Angami Baptist Church council (ABCC) executive director Rev. Keviyiekielie Linyu unveiled the monolith centenary celebration.  Linyu also unfurled the centenary flag and later released Centenary souvenir.
Earlier, Associate pastor Kelhoulezo led the introductory service while Rev. Kevimese Suohu, pastor, Nagabazar Baptist Church pronounced invocation prayer. Zakiezokho Nisa, pastor Peraciezie Baptist Church read out scripture from Bible. Medoselhou Keretsü, president PBCC shared greeting message. CEM Baptist Church, Meriema, Chüziema Baptist church choir and centenary choir entertained the congregation with songs.
Day 2 (Jan 15) programme will start from 9:00 AM onwards with Rev. Zotuo Kiewhuo, pastor, Koinonia Baptist Church as the main speaker. Keduolhoulie, pastor will the main speaker in the evening service. Rev. Kiezotuo Zhale, senior pastor, Baptist Mission Church and Rev. Keviyiekielie Linyu will the main speakers on the last day of the celebration on January 16.
 MBC was established in the year 1911 under the initiative of Meselie Ciesotsu who got baptized in 1911 and converted into Christianity, which was later followed by his brother and others in 1922. Presently, there are 680 baptized members in the village.
