Mizoram cabinet approves various bills and resolutions

AIZAWL, May 19 (NNN): Mizoram cabinet has passed various bills today at a cabinet meeting presided by the state’s Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla in Aizawl. These includes monthly  gratuity to the dismissed soldiers of disbanded 2nd Assam Regiment at par with the gratuity given to the World war II veterans,  hike of employees at the Prisons Department and various allowances given to the Mizoram Home Guards Officers and regular staff under Home Department while the state cabinet also passed Proposal for framing of ‘The Mizoram (Pension for Members of the defunct Mizo District Council and of the defunct Pawi-Lakher Regional Council) (Amendment)Act, 2010 and for introduction, consideration and passing in the next Mizoram Legislative Assembly under the state Parliamentary Affairs Department.
The meeting chaired by Lal Thanhawla other than the above bills and resolutions also passed Payment of Over Times Allowances to Operational Staff working on Holiday and Saturday, The draft Mizoram Motor Vehicles (Taxation) (Amendment) Bill, 2011 leh The Mizoram Condemnation and disposal of the Government Vehicle Rules, 2011 while Introduction of 2 Wheelers Taxi in Aizawl was not passed by the cabinet under state’s Transport Department. Under the finance department, the cabinet also passed New Pension System for Unorganised Employees, The Mizoram Ceiling on Govt. Guarantee Bill, 2011, The Mizoram Public Servants Liability Rules, 2011 leh Report of the Pay Committee, 2010.  The cabinet further passed ‘The Mizoram Municipal Authorities (Prohibition of Defection) Bill, 2010, The Mizoram Street Vendors (Protection of livelihood and Regulation of Street Vending) Bill 2010 and The Mizoram Urban Sanitation & Solid Waste Management Policy, 2011 under the UD & PA Department.
New Classification of posts due to implementation of the Mizoram (Revision of Pay) Rules, 2010 and its impact of recruitment of School Teachers under Voluntary Retirement Scheme (VRS) under the school education department was also passed. The Mizoram Finance & Accounts Service (Amendment) Rules, 2011 but Recommendation of Manpower Assessment Committee and Modified Assured Career Progression Scheme, 2010 for the Mizoram Government Employees was kept for further study by the cabinet.
